FRIENDS OF THE LANTEX

The city owns the building. You keep it lit.

The LanTex has no paid staff, just Llano Main Street volunteers and local non-profits who sell the popcorn, patch the plaster, and keep a 1927 single-screen house open in a world that closed nearly all the others. Every membership, sponsorship, and shift behind the stand goes straight to that work.

Work the Stand

Two shifts a month, a movie and an Opry, plus the odd paintbrush day. Concessions are staffed entirely by volunteers, and the crew always has room for one more.

WHERE THE POPCORN MONEY GOES

Every $4 bag does preservation work

Concession sales supplement historical preservation projects and promotion across the courthouse historic district. Volunteer hands and popcorn money have already:

  • repainted the interior to its original 1927 design
  • repaired the stage and renovated the balcony
  • replaced 400 half-century-old seats, adding ADA spaces and wider aisles
  • next up: armrest cup holders and numbered seats, as funds allow
